UKRAINE NEEDS RUSSIAN COAL IMPORTS ADMITS ENERGY MINISTRY

Ukraine cannot do without Russian coal, Ukraine’s Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Volodymyr Demchyshyn admitted on Tuesday.<br />

He said he hoped supplies of Russian anthracite coal for Ukrainian electricity plants would be resumed within months. He said coal supplies from Russia was "a political matter."<br />

"As far as I know, Centrenergo bought minor volumes, Donbassenergo, as far as I understand, plan to do it in future," he said, adding that the latter company had corresponding contracts with the Russian side.<br />

Demchyshyn said he hoped for Russian coal, since the country can take it from nowhere else.<br />
