ISLAMABAD (AP) — Indian and Pakistani border guards traded gunfire in the divided region of Kashmir, leaving nine civilians dead and another 63 wounded, authorities said Friday.</div>

Each side blamed the other for "unprovoked firing and shelling" on homes after midnight near the disputed border.</div>

A statement issued by the Pakistani army said six civilians were killed and 47 others, including 22 women and 11 children, were wounded after Indian attacks near the city of Sialkot. It said the villages of Kanganpur and Bajra Gari were the worst hit by the shelling overnight.</div>

The new pipeline is to be completed by 2018. It will be able to carry 2 billion cubic feet of gas a day. This is equivalent to about a half of Pakistan’s current gas production from its domestic fields.<br />
"The Russian pipeline would represent Moscow's first major project in Pakistan since the early 1970s, when the Soviet Union helped build a steel mill in Karachi during a brief warming of relations that followed the election of a left-leaning leader in Islamabad," the WSJ said.
