Sorry for the unexplained Hiatus but I have problems keeping a regimented schedule but I'll try to be more consistent...no promises though. Anywho, Here are some choice cuts which I feel are worth checking out: Nas-Sly Fox <object height="344" width="425"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/T6Uqk3fxFEs&hl=en&fs=1"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/T6Uqk3fxFEs&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> This is in my Opinion the best song on the new Nas Album and that is saying a lot. The rhyme scheme is just off the hook and the beat is really catchy yet packs plenty of punch! Plus he really sticks it to Fux Noobs...kind of like I did in a <a href="http://tranceponder.blogspot.com/2008/07/fux-noobs-channel-shitting-on.html">Previous Article</a>. In order to further prove the point that Nas is trying to make, here is a Fux Noobs clip that is "allegedly" about a serial killer in Florida but if you were to turn down the volume and just watch the stock footage that Fux Noobs uses, it mostly focuses on Boobies & Poontang! Interestingly Enough Joell is not black but a proud Puerto Rican, a demographic that Obama could really use some help with(they tended to vote for Hillary). The first slew of videos that were Obama related were by Nas and Movado respectively. This Song is off of Joell Ortiz's Sophomore effort entitled "Free Agent." <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joell_Ortiz">Joell Ortiz</a>'s first album "The Brick(Bodega Chronicles)" was in my opinion one of the best Hip-Hop albums of 2007. Motorhead-Rockout <object height="344" width="425"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0NxU6BKMZPU&hl=en&fs=1"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/0NxU6BKMZPU&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Lemmy & Motorhead are back with their signature sound. This is first the Single to be released from "Motorizer," their 20th studio album. That kind of longevity is rarely seen in the fickle world of Metal. Slipknot-Psychosocial <object height="344" width="425"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Wws7mnMewPw&hl=en&fs=1"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Wws7mnMewPw&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Slipknot's new album is definitely worth checking out. The Album entitled, "All Hope is Gone" was released on August 20th. This is the second single from the album, the first was the title track. Usually when bands go on hiatus and start working on other projects for several years, there is a drop-off in the quality of material produced by the original band but in the case of slipknot they were able to channel their roots and put out a very strong album that is reminiscent of their first three albums. The Briggs-Charge Into The Sun <object height="344" width="425"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/GL9Z_KVJ2tc&hl=en&fs=1"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/GL9Z_KVJ2tc&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Briggs">The Briggs</a> are an Alt-Metal/Punk Band from Los Angeles. This is a cut from their album, "Come all you Madmen." Tyga-Lime in the Coconut <object height="344" width="425"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/AROeEiidM8Q&hl=en&fs=1"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/AROeEiidM8Q&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> I don't particularly like this song but years from now we will be referring to acts such as Tyga as a bi-product of the "Kanye West Effect." In Layman's terms they are skinny and/or nerdy rappers who emphasize the hooks way too much and pretend to be rock stars. Plus, they throw hissy-fits when their sup-par work is not recognized as brilliant art. Also, a word of advice for Tyga, putting the lead singer of Fall Out Boy in your Video does not get you mainstream attention. On a related note, Putting Lil' Wayne in a Video should not get anybody street-cred but in their case it actually does. That is all for this edition of DJ G9D's Thursdays Afternoon Music Picks. It has come to my attention that hip-hop community is throwing its weight behing Mr. Barack "lightning" Obama. I gave him the moniker of lightning because on a recent excursion to Israel, i was informed that Barack in Hebrew means lightning, so in order help Barack win over the Jewish voting population, I hereby christen (or in this case jewen) him Lightning, which sounds way better than "Hussien" in the middle of his name. The heeb vote is apparently vital to his success, even though it makes up less then 1% of the US population. But who am I to argue straw polls? Anywho, I digress. Back to the Hip-Hop community realizing that there are alot of haters out there that probably are way too proud to vote for a Halfrican-American. The US is full self-righteous pricks who don't want to see one of their own make it. Trust me, I have asked around. Thus far, there have been two rap songs endorsing Barack "lightning" Obama, the Halfrican-American as the next leader of the free world. My prediction is that by November there will be no less than 12 songs singing the praises of Barack "lightning" Obama. the two songs thus far are pretty good, I must add.
